Relaxing holiday , very kind and helpful owner but the traffic noise spoiled it a little

Spacious apartment , comfortable furniture , pleasant decor . Spotlessly clean and room cleaned /bed made every day . Manager and his son very kind and helpful . There were foods for the breakfast on the first day and fresh bread rolls hung on the door handle early every morning . A pleasant relaxing stay . We were given a bottle of Madeira wine the evening before we left . Also, the owner found a solution to switch off the fridge as it was too noisy at night . There was one night when some dogs started barking nearby in the valley which then encouraged other dogs to do the same. This disturbed us for several hours . Not the hotels fault but I just feel people should now that it may happen .

At times we could hear the traffic ( not sure there are regulations about noise pollution , some VERY loud motorbikes in particular ) and the balcony wall is to high to be able to enjoy the view whist eating breakfast .

What was the highlight of Vila Marta Hotel Funchal

I usually don't write reviews, but I will make an exception, as Vila Marta was probably the best place I stayed during my vacations. Mr. Joel Alves and his son Bruno are fantastic hosts, very friendly and helpful, the room and the entire hotel are spotlessly clean and the view from the balcony is beautiful. Upon arrival you are greeted with a glass of Madeira wine, the room is very large and equipped with everything you need, inside you will find coffee, tea and a fruit basket, and the hosts bring you fresh bread every morning. There is housekeeping service every day. If you rent a car as I did, there are plenty of free and safe parking places on the street. Upon departure, Mr. Joel arranged a taxi for me to the airport and although I left Vila Marta very early (at 4 o'clock in the morning), he personally waited for me at the reception to wish me a good trip. He also offered me a box of traditional sweets from Madeira and a bottle of wine (to my sadness I had to refuse the wine, as I didn't have checked luggage). There would be more to say, but to conclude, my stay in Madeira was perfect thanks to the fantastic staff at Vila Marta. Thank you!!

Exceptional

Having stayed there for 9 days we had a great holiday. The hosts are very helpful and nice. There was a lot of space in our room and it was super clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and the view from balcony was nice for breakfast. You can always park your car in front of the building and within just couple of minutes get to the supermarket or main highway. There is also a bus stop with direct connection to Funchal center. Overall a great experience - highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our stay and have booked the hotel for next year

Everyday the owner left us fresh bread rolls in a bag outside the room. The room was excellent and cleaned every day. The owner was extremely friendly and even took me to show me where the shops and restaurants were in the nearby town.

Amazing experience!

This was an amazing experience! Bruno and Joel treating their guest with such an amazing respect and kindness! They are amazingly nice people! I had fruits as a welcoming gift in the room and also fresh bread every morning. The view from the room was very pretty. There is small kitchen and all the need things like pan, knifes, kettle etc. Also, I received nice gift before check out - wine from Madeira.

Very nice host and very clean room!

I was really happy to stay at Vila Marta. Host Joel was very nice to advice our trips and welcomed us until we left. The room was really clean every day! There was no AC but it was ok in the late August. We stayed for the first three days at Vila Marta and and regretted to move the other place in the rest of our days in Madeira. I wished to stay at Vila Marta for all my trip...!! I would recommend Vila Marta ;)

Joao and his son are the best hosts!! When we arrived to Vila in the evening he took us to very good pizzeria and spend with us evening! They are very helpful, have a big knowledge about Madeira.

A remarkable place with warm people

I am impressed with Vila Marta. Joel and Bruno are extremely hospitable, friendly and helpful, it feels authentic and makes your stay in Madeira infinitely better. I arrived very late at night and there was a flight delay and Joel was waiting for me at 2am to welcome and show me the room and give insights about how to get around the area. The room is extremely clean, the Wi-Fi connection is great, every morning fresh bread was left at my door and on the last day I was gifted a traditional Madeira cake. It was a very comfortable and special stay at a great value for the price, and I will definitely recommend Vila Marta for my friends when they come to Madeira.

Warm welcome and nice stay

Joel gave us a warm welcome & a glass of wine of Madeira which was a very good start. The room was clean and comfortable. The view was towards the town and the ocean. Small kitchen was equipped well enough and we got fresh buns every day for breakfast. There was always a parking spot close by. There is a bus stop 5-7 min away which can take you to Funchal city center. Whenever we asked for tips or advice we received comprehensive information and a good word. And to top things off, we received a very tasty farewell gift. Definitely recommend.

A very special place

I would highly recommend the Vila Marta. It is set in a quiet location slightly away from the centre of Funchal and on a bus route which took only about 15 minutes to the centre. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and the cleaning service each day was a real treat. The apartment balcony looked over a rural area with a sea view. (See photo) The fresh rolls left outside the door each morning were very much appreciated as was the fruit and items in the fridge for the first day. We found Joel and Bruno to be extremely welcoming and helpful from the lift from the bus stop, welcome drink of Madeira wine and tour of the property on arrival until Joel dropped us off at the Aerobus stop on departure with a bottle of Madeira wine tucked in our suitcase! They do all they can to ensure your stay is enjoyable, providing any information you require together with recommendations for and booking of tours. Communication is prompt if you have any questions or require information via the App or email. We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in Madeira. Thank you Joel and Bruno!

Excellent value for the money

Excellent location (near Funchal, but not in the busy centre). Enough space, spotless (total cleaning every day), and the owners are extremely friendly, polite, informative and willing to help at any time (we arrived at 1 am and left at 4 am - and there was always someone there if help needed. Welcoming fruits and a farewell gift!
