Could not have asked for more from property or proprietors.

I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting a relative at the nearby hospital. Joel and his family could not have been more hospitable and welcoming. The propery was spotless and the apartment had everthing i needed with a bonus of fresh bread rolls every morning. All in all a little oasis in what was a difficult trip to take.

Joao & his son Bruno were extremely helpful and welcoming throughout my stay- I was really touched by the kind hospitality I received, topped off by a traditional Madeiran cake which they gave me. Would stay here again happily

Bruno and Joel were outstanding hosts. I don't think I've ever experienced such commitment to service even in a 5 star resort hotel. I highly recommend this place and I will absolutely stay here again if I ever return to Madeira.

Very comfortable and friendly place with quiet surroundings - thank you Mr Joel & Bruno

First of all, fantastic care from the family running this hotel. Thank you very much for your help and concern. At our request, Mr Bruno made our room ready from 10 a.m., although check-in is normally not until 2 p.m. And when we were leaving, Mr. Joel got up before 4 a.m. to make sure our car would start and we would be able to arrive on time to the airport and was there to help in case of any problems. Our apartment was very comfortable and large, with a bedroom and living room spaces, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a balcony with a table and two chairs - overlooking the ocean in the distance. The floors are accessible by elevator. Fresh fruit upon arrival, fresh rolls in a bag on the door handle every day. Nice cleaning ladies ensured perfect cleanliness. There are a lot of books in the hall. We studied two of them in our free time. The hotel's surroundings are quiet. Its location is perfect for trips around the island if you have a car. There are free parking spaces in front of the hotel. It is easier and faster to get to the main roads leading into the island from here than from the very center of Funchal.

Madeira 2024

Joel was a lovely host. He treats you as part of the family. He couldn't do enough for you. The room was lovely, views of the sea and surrounding area. It was my birthday during my stay and the family presented me with a gift of Madeira wine and cake. The villa is a way from Funchal, but there are regular bus routes (4,45) that can take you into the town. The hill to the villa is really steep (which is the case for most parts of Madeira). You can see Sao Martinho Church above as you come to the villa.

There was no air con within the property, but that was a small issue.

Beautiful property with stunning views and outstanding staff. Owners are responsive, welcoming, and professional. Perfectly located for a holiday including beaches, mountains, countryside, and Funchal. We had a perfect week and look forward to returning in future.

A perfect home in Madeira

The position was perfect to visit all the Island, but we enjoied in particular the kindness of the Alves family: every morning they gave us free fresh bread, soft and perfect for breakfast or for a Quick lunch; also the owner gave us multiple taste of the sweetest Madera wine and a tipical cake (bolo do mel) to bring home...????

Everithing was beyond the expectations there's nothing we have not liked!

Very good and clean apartment, friendly host, good location

Everything was the best! Location, very clean apartment, balcony with great view. The host, mr. Joel, was very kind and gave us many useful information. We got fresh fruit the first day and we tasted Madeira wine. Every morning we got fresh bread (no extra costs). The kitchen in the apartment had everything that you need to prepare simple meals and there is a fridge. In front are many places for parking. Shops and beach are neer. It's good to have a car to go arround.

Great place to stay in Funchal.

My stay here was a delight. The location is great with spectacular views. The rooms are well equipped with a small kitchenette, comfy beds, a sitting area and wonderful views from the terrace. However, Vila Marta's greatest asset is the family that run the place. Father and son, I was welcomed and waved off by Joel, the father. In have no hesitation in recommending Vila Marta.

Joel and his son Bruno were excellent and very friendly hosts. They were always willing to help and ensure all my needs were met. The accommodation is spacious, clean and very comfortable.

A fan in the room would have been a nice addition for the hot summer days.
